January-December 2025
Executive Summary
Throughout 2025, as part of my Peace Corps Volunteer Leader (PCVL) role, I worked closely with YOUTHinc to support youth-focused programming, advise on organizational management, and strengthen overall organizational capacity. My contributions spanned multiple initiatives, from designing and facilitating Professional English for Career Readiness sessions to coordinating the Youth Employment Forum and supervising personnel during the D-Tech Youth Project. Across these efforts, I ensured consistency in planning, execution, and follow-through, while supporting staff and participants in achieving program objectives. In addition to direct program work, I contributed to broader organizational processes, staff coordination, community outreach, and capacity-building efforts, establishing frameworks to support ongoing youth-focused activities.
Professional English for Career Readiness (PECR)
From late August through early October, I facilitated the Professional English for Career Readiness program, a hybrid initiative aimed at helping youth use English confidently in professional settings. Over the course of twelve sessions—six in-person and six online—participants practiced personal pitches, wrote resumes and cover letters, applied for job openings, and participated in mock interviews. I coordinated with fellow PCV Lori to ensure online sessions complemented in-person activities, sharing previous lesson plans and identifying areas where participants needed additional support.
By the end of the program, 25 youth participants had produced draft resumes and cover letters, completed mock interviews, and demonstrated improved familiarity with professional English vocabulary and formats. Participants also reported greater confidence when presenting themselves in professional scenarios. The hybrid format proved effective, with both in-person and online sessions contributing to a cohesive learning experience. Based on participant feedback, I also proposed a follow-up workshop series to develop interpersonal skills such as assertive communication, active listening, and conflict resolution.
Youth Employment Forum (YEF)
In late October, I coordinated youth volunteers and supported the execution of the Youth Employment Forum, an event organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Protection. The forum brought together representatives from various sectors to discuss youth employment, career opportunities, and human resource policies in Mongolia.
My role included delegating tasks, overseeing registration and event setup, and ensuring smooth operations despite limited staff availability. Fifteen youth volunteers successfully managed their assigned responsibilities, while more than 200 participants benefited from structured sessions and workshops. The forum provided participants with organized access to career guidance and networking opportunities and gave volunteers practical experience in event coordination and task management.
D-Tech Youth Project
During the D-Tech Youth Project, I focused on supervising project staff and youth volunteers. I coordinated assignments, monitored task completion, and provided ongoing guidance to maintain workflow and operational continuity. This supervision ensured that daily activities proceeded efficiently, participants received structured support, and project objectives were met, even during periods of limited staff presence. Through these efforts, staff and volunteers strengthened their task management skills and adhered to project timelines, creating a replicable framework for future implementations.
Organizational Support and Capacity-Building
Beyond program-specific activities, I provided guidance on organizational processes, assisted in documenting procedures, and supported the capacity-building of staff and volunteers through mentorship and structured oversight. These contributions strengthened YOUTHinc’s readiness to implement youth-focused initiatives and produced frameworks and guidance materials to support future programming.
Proposed Activity: Bridge-Building Workshop Series
Based on participant feedback from PECR, I proposed a short-term, 5–7 week hybrid workshop series focused on developing interpersonal skills. The sessions would include both in-person and online components and could be facilitated by available PCVs. The curriculum would cover emotional literacy, assertive communication, active listening, conflict resolution, and practical strategies for enhancing interpersonal presence. A tentative curriculum has been prepared and can be implemented as interest and resources allow.
