These are all included in the most concerning issues that we have to solve, however, I believe the most crucial issue facing youth is the pressure from the environment.
According to research, the rate of suicide among young people in Mongolia is five times higher than in other countries in East Asia. Suicide- taking one's life- takes the most percent of death rates in this country. Not only that, the country itself has only about 4million people and almost 600 people take their own lives each year. This is due to the fact that “youth” have to live up to society’s expectations. One example of having to live up to expectations can be that children fulfilling their parents’ demand to study harder and doing only what their parents want them to do. Not only that, some may even live their whole life working the job that their parents decided for them because they thought it will make their children rich in the future. Instead of doing what they truly wish to do, working as almost like their “parents” life can make one miserable both physically and mentally. Also, most people judge others based on their appearance or their academic knowledge. This can lead to one having low self-esteem, low confidence, and therefore being in an isolated position in society. There are even more examples of pressure that youth get from society in Mongolia. Being under extreme pressure is already too much to handle even for adults. Moreover, young people have not fully matured which means their mental state is not that stable compared to adults. With stress from society being added to an unstable mental state can lead one to take their own life.
The most significant cause for this concerning issue is the huge gap between the rich and poor in Mongolia. The middle class is not common compared to the riches and the poor. Some are extremely rich while some are too poor. That is why most parents pressure their children to do well at school and work and also the reason for people judging each other based on their appearance.
All in all, I believe the most concerning issue facing youth is the inequality in wealth and pressure from society. I hope, in the future, the large gap between classes would be solved.
